Pulsatilla features deeply cut, threadlike basal foliage above which erect stems support nodding bell-shaped, purplish flowers in May. Spent flowers turn into attractive, hairy, white seed heads. Plant foliage remains viable throughout the growing season. Deer have never bothered our Pulsatilla. In our garden it is very slow to spread.
