Panicum virgatum ❤️

This ornamental grass forms thick upright clumps of grass-like leaves above which airy flower panicles emerge in mid-summer. The brown stalks and feathery panicles offer winter interest as well. Indestructible, and not a fast, thuggish spreader like so many ornamental grasses. Deer don’t typically bother it.

'Northwind' is blue-green and has airy white flowers. 'Ruby Ribbons' features red flowers, and the foliage slowly turns burgundy red in late summer.
