Anemones are extremely vigorous growers with large grape-like foliage and showy pink petaled flowers in late summer. While this plant is gorgeous in bloom, it is a bit of a thug in the garden, as it will spread  with abandon  into large clumps. Removing Anemone from a bed can be an exercise in frustration, as it sends out deep, thick taproots, and any fragment of root that remains in the will will rapidly sprout new plants. It typically takes several seasons to remove all traces of Anemone from a bed. Despite its thuggishness, we still keep a little in the garden, in a location where we are not too worried about its spread. If you own a little Anemone, you will soon have a lot! Deer will browse our anemone frequently without preventive measures.

We removed our stand in 2023.
